Spain Will Open to Travelers from the United States Starting in June, 2021
In May the European Union voted to allow travel to the EU countries by Americans starting in June. No date has been set, and it is up to each EU member country to determine the date when Americans will be able to enter.
Spain will open its doors to vaccinated Americans starting June 7th. No period of quarantine will be required after arrival. Travelers will need proof of vaccination.
Hotels, restaurants, wineries and cultural sites in Spain are open or will be opening in the coming days and weeks. Restaurants and bars must close at midnight or 1:00AM, although there is variation in this by region. Travel throughout the country is allowed. A nation-wide mask mandate in public spaces is still in effect.
The pace of vaccination in Spain has not matched that in the US, but the numbers are increasing weekly, with some 35% of the population having received the first dose and approximately 17% have gotten both doses. The Spanish government estimates that by July 70% of Spaniards will be vaccinated.
Spain is anticipating a busy summer travel season, as it is a favorite destination among other Europeans and Americans.
