Madrid & central spain

Day 1 – Private walking tour of historic Madrid. Evening tapas tour through viejo Madrid. Madrid has an excellent selection of traditional, contemporary and regional tapas bars.

Day 2 – Free morning in Madrid. Afternoon private gourmet tasting tour in La Latina, Las Letras and Chamberi neighborhoods. Dinner in an acclaimed Spanish restaurant.

Day 3 – Visit Aranjuez, a Unesco World Heritage Site, and home to the Spanish crown’s summer palace complete with classical gardens.  Lunch in a traditional restaurant. Return to Madrid mid-afternoon.

Day 4 – Private tour of both the Prado and the Reina Sofia Museums with an art specialist. Enjoy dinner at a venerable Madrid institution near the Plaza Mayor.

Day 5 – Discover historic Toledo with a private local guide. Take a panoramic drive around Toledo, encircled by the Tajo River and then explore the extensive cultural and monumental heritage sites from the medieval coexistence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures. See El Greco masterpieces, the Gothic Cathedral and the oldest still-standing European synagogue. Have lunch at our favorite restaurant in the heart of the old town. Return to Madrid by train in the late afternoon.

Day 6 – Today, visit the town of Segovia, whose old town and Roman aqueduct have been declared Unesco World Heritage sites. Segovia is famous for the cochinillo, or roast suckling pig. The roast lamb shines as well.

Day 7 – Private transfer to the Madrid airport for your outbound journey.
