Interesting

Vila Nova de Gaia is the town across the Douro River from Porto. Until the 1980s all Port wine was aged in Gaia. The grapes are grown in the Douro River Valley, and traditionally the wine was shipped to Gaia in flat-bottomed boats called barcos rabelos. Today the boats are only used for river races.
