New Priorat Cooking Vacation
May 25, 2008
Epicurean Ways has teamed up with a phenomenal chef and cooking school program in Catalonia to offer cooking class vacations. The program takes place at the restored stone house-residence of the chef in the Priorat, the prestigious wine region 80 miles from Barcelona.
A maximum of six people fill three of the house’s bedrooms (each with private bath); the chef and staff live in the others.
We offer three and six day programs featuring daily cooking classes, winery tours and tastings, olive oil tasting, and some meals in traditional restaurants. The emphasis is on learning to cook authentic Catalan food and becoming acquainted with the wine of the Priorat and Montsant wine regions. The hotel/cooking school is located in the DO Montsant wine region, a few miles from the DOC Priorat wine region. In addition to a fabulous kitchen, the house boasts a wine cellar and adjoining tasting room.
The cooking vacations are offered throughout the year–even at Christmas. There is availability for the upcoming six-day trip in July (July 22-28)–a perfect summer experience (the house is 13 miles from the Mediterranean coast). We are offering two special trips in the fall. The first is a Grape Harvest Tour, September 17-23, where you pick grapes with the wine crew and see the wine-making process up close. The second is an Olive Harvest and Olive Oil Tour, November 5-11, where you witness the entire process of olive oil being produced.
